Dk which band shirts to wear to Orion! Thinking Sepultura one day… But is it in poor taste to wear Cavalera era Sepultura to modern day Sepultura? What about wearing Megadeth to Metallica? Is that not okay? Help me pick out two shirts! #metalheadproblems #metal #metallica #kingdiamond #megadeth #testament #blacksabbath #burzum #death #sepultura #slayer #venom #spiritualhealing #orion (Taken with Instagram)
Look at the lost souls, they seem so black.
OMFG
Alex Skolnick and Chris Broderick are hosting a winter guitar retreat from December 26 - December 30. This is like the biggest tease ever. I love the shit out of both of them, it’s in the NY area, AND it’s happening during my birthday week. Only problem is, it’s for guitar players only which I am not =(
I’d sell my soul for this… but I’m afraid I don’t seem to have one of those anymore. Wahhh omg I want to go so badly =*( I wonder if I can use the power of Eddie for this….
Day 04 - Your favorite 80’s METAL song:
“Disciples of the Watch” - Testament
Now THIS was a tough ass question. So many incredible songs and albums and bands were spawned in the 80’s, but honestly, one of my all time favorite albums is Testament’s second studio album… “A New Order”
So anyone who knows me or reads my Twitter or Tumblr knows that I am a HUGE thrash enthusiast and one of my all time FAVORITE bands is Testament. With that said, you guys also know that I am a HUGE fan of Alex Skolnick.
Well, last night, I had the privledge to meet him for the second time at The Rockwood Music Hall in SoHo where he performed with his jazz ensemble (The Alex Skolnick Trio). It was totally awesome. It’s always a meaningful moment when you get to talk music with someone whose music you’ve been listening to for 6 years.
Above are two pictures: One of Alex Skolnick and I at Vintage Vinyls in August of 2008 and the picture of us last night.

So, tonight I got to FINALLY see American Carnage — Testament, Megadeth, and fucking Slayer.
I went with Idrees and it was fucking incredible. I managed to sweet talk my way up to the front and snapped bitchin’ pics like these. I lucked out and got right in front of Dave Mustaine and Chris Broderick during Megadeth and ended up on the Kerry King side during Slayer.
Dude, Rust in Peace was off the hook. It was my first time seeing Megadeth and I’m glad I got to see them play “Five Magics” with Dave Ellefson. What a rarity.
And of course, I was a psycho when Slayer came on. I’ve seen them 4 times in 4 years and let me tell you, this was by far the best show I have ever seen. The energy was amazing, my view was incredible, my company was badass as fuck, AND they played my all time favorite album front to back. How often do you see “Temptations,” “Skeletons of Society,” and “Hallowed Point” played live? Um, never.
For those who don’t know, my voice changed in Japan. Seriously, I got off the plane and my voice was gone. It hasn’t gotten better or worse and that was 12 days ago. I sound sexy as fuck though. I didn’t think so at first until even strangers started complimenting my voice (one girl thought I was a singer ROFL).
Anyway, unfortunately, my voice change made it difficult to scream at the show because of the strain it put on my vocal chords. But it didn’t stop me =P
But anyway, I have “South of Heaven” stuck in my head and can’t stop listening to a conglomeration of Slayer, Testament, and Megadeth (in that order).
I’m sick of these new wave thrash bands shamelessly ripping off well-established and fore-fronting bands like Metallica, Testament, Megadeth, etc. For instance, this song by Fatal Embrace was signed and released in 2010. Don’t be fooled, it actually isn’t a cover of Metallica’s 1986 “Damage Inc” off of Master of Puppets. (It’s even got a touch of “Battery” going on). Also, notice the “Massive Aggressive” lyric….. Municipal Waste rip-offs? Really?
This is fucking disgusting. This is why the attempts to revive classic metal genres only go so far. This isn’t the first or only band to do this. Listen to Warbringer’s “Jackal” and tell me the intro isn’t strangely reminiscent of Testament’s “First Strike Is Deadly.”
