Dk which band shirts to wear to Orion! Thinking Sepultura one day… But is it in poor taste to wear Cavalera era Sepultura to modern day Sepultura? What about wearing Megadeth to Metallica? Is that not okay? Help me pick out two shirts! #metalheadproblems #metal #metallica #kingdiamond #megadeth #testament #blacksabbath #burzum #death #sepultura #slayer #venom #spiritualhealing #orion (Taken with Instagram)

I don’t mean to dwell
But I can’t help myself
When I feel the vibe
And taste a memory
Of a time in life
When years seemed to stand still

I close my eyes
And sink within myself
Relive the gift of precious memories
In need of a fix called innocence

When did it begin?
The change to come was undetectable
The open wounds expose the importance of
Our innocence
A high that can never be bought or sold

Symbolic acts - so vivid
Yet at the same time
Were invisible

Savor what you feel and what you see
Things that may not seem important now
But may be tomorrow

Do you remember when
Things seemed so eternal?
Heroes were so real…
Their magic frozen in time
The only way to learn
Is be aware and hold on tight

I close my eyes
And sink within myself
Relive the gift of precious memories
In need of a fix called innocence

When did it begin?
The change to come was undetectable
The open wounds expose the importance of
Our innocence
A high that can never be bought or sold

Day 21 - A song by a METAL “supergroup” (In your post, name the members and what bands they’re from)

“Destiny” - Death (Individual Thought Patterns Line Up)

Chuck Schuldiner - vocals/guitar (Death, Control Denied)
Andy Larocque - guitar (King Diamond)
Steve Digiorgio - bass (Sadus, Charred Walls of the Damned, Iced Earth, Testament, Autopsy, Obituary, Control Denied, etc)
Gene Hoglan - drums (Dark Angel, Dethklok, Testament, etc)

Favorite line up of all time.

Not to mention Individual Thought Patterns happens to be one of the first technical death metal albums of all time… before the genre was even acknowledged let alone destroy by these fucking modern day extremists.

Day 19 - A METAL song sung/performed by someone who has passed on

“Pull The Plug” - Death

May 13th, 1967 - December 13th, 2001

This December will be ten years that Chuck Schuldiner has no longer been with us and despite his absence, his music is still a strong inspiration within the metal community.

“Life ends so fast, so take your chance, and make it last.” — Charles Michael Schuldiner

Here’s the email Chuck’s mother, Jane Schuldiner, wrote to me as a response to an email I had sent her back in March 2009.

Dear Katy, I just read your email sharing with me your thoughts about Chuck, and I want to tell you how much it meant to me. I don’t know if you are aware that a fan from Iran authored a book with all the lyrics Chuck had written up to that date. it is now in the library in Iran under poetry. Mahyar sent Chuck a copy of the book, and he was so honored to know someone cared so much to write it and he went out and bought himself a leather cover to protect it.  At that time he was very sick but I drove him all around until we found one. Now his nephew has it. I know some teachers here read Chuck’s lyrics to their classes, as poetry. He was thrilled to hear that.Chuck was a deep thinker and after his early music, which was therapudic and written after the death of his 16 year old brother, he wrote about issues that mattered to him. And the great thing was, and is, that so many have written before we lost Chuck, and since then, to say how much his lyrics has helped them to cope. They relate to them and say at times they give them hope and courage to go on through adversity in their lives. And now they write, as you have, to let me know that and to tell me Chuck is remembered. Fans and friends of his have helped me throughout since 12-13-01, they have brought me enormous comfort.Above all, Chuck was a family man who was devoted to me and his sister and nephew and is infinitely loved and missed in our lives. A wonderful and kind man who is remembered not just for his music, but for the time and care he took for his fans. His doctors said they would have loved to have him for a friend, and I know you would have liked him. Warm regardsJane Schuldiner

Day 12 - Your favorite METAL song about death/dying

“A Tout Le Monde” - Megadeth

This has to be one of the most beautiful Megadeth songs ever written by Dave and Marty.  The video was actually banned from ignorant MTV because they assumed the song was about suicide, when actually, it’s written from the perspective of someone who’s suffering from a terminal illness.

For the record, I HATE the version with Christina Scabbia, and if I’m not mistaken, Glen Drover slightly changed the Marty Friedman solo and I’m still not sure how I feel about that.
